The Honu (Hawaiian sea turtle) runs daily sail charters in Kailua Kona, Hi. www.sailkona.com.
"Honu" has a beautiful customized interior with woodwork done in a variety of hard woods by a previous owner. She is rigged to sail well in light air and is thoughtfully set up for safe, comfortable inter-island sailing or long distance voyaging. A custom built teak dodger shelters the small open cockpit and the custom stern pulpit provides additional seating with a bimini top for shade. Top side has new paint and the wood is beatifully refinished. The genoa and staysail are both roller furling for easy short-handed sailing. Previous voyages include Hawaii to New Zealand and back again via the South Pacific.
2018 drydock including the installation of a rebuilt engine, removal of blisters, new bottom paint, new cutlass bearing and drip-less shaft seal.
Engine:
Rebuilt 40hp vw Pathfinder diesel engine, 10 hours running time. New fuel lines. Two fuel tanks hold a total of 70 gallons. Stainless 1" shaft to a 16" x 15" three blade bronze prop.
Electrical:
Four 6-V Deep Cycle batteries, One starting battery, 2 new 160 watt solar panels. New USCG approved electrical cables in 2018.

Original aluminum mast with newer aluminum boom, spinnaker pole, full battened mainsail with triple reef points, Storm Trysail, Storm Jib, 100% Genoa, oversized Staysail, Drifter, 100% Mule, Spare Staysail, Hood Seafurl on Jib, spare Main and Jib, 5/16" SS standing rigging, eight Lewmar winches, New lower shrouds and new lines.
